I have three pianos – two in the music studio and one in the house – which I need keep in top shape. For the past year I’ve entrusted their tuning and maintenance to Charles Newland, and have always been really happy with his work. The instruments are a joy to play, thanks to Charles’s meticulous attention to detail. I have been recommending him to my students, and will continue to do so. I hope Charles’s business grows and prospers, as he consistently delivers top service and quality at a very reasonable price.

Charles Newland is a total perfectionist and will not leave the job till he has done his utmost to get the piano tuned and adjusted to its potential. I am very pleased with the work he has done on my grand piano which has been done to top professional level standard. You can count on excellent after sales service and commitment to good service. His prices are fair and competitive. Charles will treat your humble upright piano with the same care and respect as a Carnegie hall grand. You can trust this guy. He is young, well trained and with great attitude. I trust him with my piano and we are really lucky to have Charles working here in Adelaide! I recommend him to you and encourage you to give him an opportunity. You will be impressed!
As a violinist, chamber musician anduniversity teacher, my two Steinway grand pianos always need to be in tune. Charles Newland’s meticulous work tuning and maintaining my century old Steinway grand and my late husband’s beautiful modern New YorkL Steinway (arrived from San Diego via Hong Kong) has beeninvaluable, since both instruments have required special care in recent times. Charles approaches his work with pianos as he approached his violin playing, (Bachelor of Music Degree in Performance at Adelaide University) with great discipline and extreme diligence. He is a very conscientious and dependable young man, and I have already recommended his work highly to colleagues and friends.

We have two upright pianos at our residence – one which I use for my composition work, and, in our teaching studio, another which is used for lessons and for accompanying student violin and viola repertoire. Charles Newland has tuned both of them for us. He was utterly fastidious in getting the tuning completely right, and returned some weeks later to check and carefully retune a replacement string. We were completely satisfied with his work and the care he took, and I happily passed on our recommendations to many colleagues.
Charles Newland tuned my piano in April 2013. I was impressed by his knowledge and professionalism. The piano was excellently tuned and I would have no hesitation in recommending him to others. I will certainly be using his services again in the future.

My 1984 Grotrian 189 Grand piano has been touched by one tuner – the late Alec Buchanan – and I was very pleased to have Charles recommended to me. He did an excellent job tuning and adjusting my piano, which is sounding as well as it ever has. Charles is an excellent technician, meticulous and thorough in his work and most conscientious in his approach. He obviously takes great pride in his work. In addition, he is most reliable and his price is very fair and reasonable for the time and expertise he brings to the job. I would without hesitation recommend Charles for anyone requiring a piano tuner or technician, as I have already have.

As a full-time recording artist I require regular piano tuning for my Steinway grand Model O. I have my piano tuned every couple of months and Charles always takes the time to ensure all the unisons are perfect, so that every note sounds beautiful, smooth and in perfect pitch. I cannot recommend Charles highly enough. His rates are quite reasonable and my piano simply sounds best when he tunes it!
I recently asked him to do some restoration/repair work on the hammers and his work was excellent. As it's an old model grand, the key weight was getting a bit heavy and also needed voicing and regulating. Charles shaved, regulated and voiced the hammers which greatly improved the overall tone and playability. He is honest and will let you know the most cost effective way forward, to bring your piano back to life.
Charles tunes both my cheaper upright piano and high-end grand piano and he gives the same amount of care to each. He's one of the best in Adelaide and I highly recommend him.
